MONTICELLO, AR — Artist Randall M. Good’s exhibit “Pursuing Disegno” is on display January 24 through March 3 in the Spencer Gallery of the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s Fine Arts Center. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
A closing reception will be held Sunday, March 3 from 1-3 p.m. with an artist’s talk at 2:15. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Immediately following the reception, the SEARK Concert Association will sponsor the Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra in the Fine Arts Center auditorium.
Good’s mannerist style of painting is recognized by many as a rare example of this genre in contemporary artwork, according to Tom Richard, professor of art at UAM. “The figurative drawings employ a unique look with the use of ‘stumped conte’ that the artist has perfected and his paintings are masterfully executed,” he said.
A series of his oil paintings of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross were commissioned as a memorial collection and are permanently displayed at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Hope, Arkansas. (stmarkshope.org)
Good is a 1992 graduate of University of North Texas and a resident of Denton, Texas. He has had numerous exhibitions in Hot Springs, Little Rock, Houston, and New York City, and has been exclusively represented by Blue Moon Art Gallery in Hot Springs since 2002.
