Citizens Organization Sponsors “Love Not Hate – We Are Family Rally”

Monticello, AR - The Concerned Citizens of Monticello Area (CCMA) invites you to cosponsor and attend our upcoming “Love Not Hate – We Are Family” Rally on October 28, 2017 at the McCloy City Park, 186 Henley Street, Monticello from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m,  The public is invited!

The rally will be a peaceful expression of unity and celebration of love for one another. We believe we should celebrate the wonderful diversity in Monticello and surrounding areas that makes our communities so strong. Although anyone from across the state can participate, we will focus our efforts on Desha, Lincoln, and Drew counties.  We will promote understanding, respect, fellowship, freedom, liberty, justice, and unity that will make our community better for all, not just a few. We hope this is a message that ALL citizens can unite behind.

We will call on everyone in our community to stand up for love and justice for all.  We want to foster an environment where people can work together for the common good and to honor the contributions of individuals from all racial, ethnic, national, and religious groups. We will challenge all people to reject violence, racism, bigotry, and hatred in any form.

The planning team of the event will provide free food and drinks; however, the overall format will be a picnic style environment where attendees can bring their own food and drinks (no alcohol beverages will be allowed and violators will be promptly ask to leave).  The agenda will include faith, youth, and community speakers and entertainment with a message of love, peace, and justice for all.  Our theme will be “We Are Family”.

If you would like to be a sponsor for the event, please go to our Facebook page ____ to sign up.  Any business, organization, church, or individual can be a sponsor. The only requirement to be a sponsor is to agree with our purpose and to encourage members, family, and friends to attend the event

CCMA is a community-based group working towards uniting and organizing citizens around social justice issues affecting our community.  We believe it’s important for citizens to stay well informed about the decisions being made on their behalf.  As part of our ongoing effort to promote civic awareness and engagement, we will continue to hold special events that will encourage citizens to get informed and stay engaged with issues that are important to our community.

NOTE:  If it’s bad weather, the event will be at Holmes Chapel Ethel Hawkins Family Life Center, 527 East McCloy, Monticello.

Please RSVP by calling Joe Britton (870) 460-0601 or Janice El-Amin (870) 329-0901.
