Arkansas Crop Protection Association Scholarship UAM Winner

Monticello, AR- A UAM College of Forestry, Agriculture and Natural Resources student is this year’s recipient of the Arkansas Crop Protection Association Scholarship.  Aaron Frazier of Pine Bluff, Arkansas is a junior, majoring in Agribusiness.  ACPA Board Representative, Kyle Colwell stopped by the George Clipart Forest Resource Annex, building this week to present Aaron with the $1500 award.


The purpose of the Arkansas Crop Protection Association (ACPA) Scholarship Program is to assist people pursuing careers in the agricultural field with an interest in crop protection. These fields include weed science, entomology, plant pathology, horticulture, agriculture business various related disciplines within the colleges of agriculture.

Aaron says he wrote a short essay on why he was applying for the scholarship.   Colwell says they hand out three scholars yearly to Ag majors at University of Arkansas at Monticello, University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Applicants must be a junior or senior in good standing at time of application and have maintained a cumulative 2.5 grade point average (4.0 scale).

All applicants must complete an official application to include:

• Official Application

• Biographical summary.

• Essay on your philosophy of agriculture and crop protection

• Copy of unofficial transcripts.

• Provide a letter of recommendations from a faculty member familiar with applicant’s merit and aspiration.

Funding for the scholarship program is made possible by the membership of the association via meetings and fund raising events.  Frazier will be asked to attend and give a short speech at the annual meeting in Little Rock
