The GFWC Warren Woman's Club recently conducted a Poetry and Short Story Contest in Bradley County in grades K-12. Poems and Stories were chosen to be judged in the Audrey Swope Poetry and Short Story Contest in Little Rock at the GFWC State Convention.
Winners from Warren were: In Category K-2 Short Story, Stormy Taylor, from Home School for "A Time to Remember", Category K-2 Poem, Carbyn Curry, an Eastside student, for "I Am Corbyn Curry: Small and Naughty"; Category 3-5zem: Jaycee Courtney, student from Eastside for "Dragon Fly"; Category 6-8 Short Story: Weston Reep from Middle School for "Michael Jackson: The Jackson One----King of Pop"; Category 9-12 Shortr Story: Junior Pacheco a senior for "Radio Silence"'; Category 9-12 Short Story: Junior Pacheco for "White Noise".
From Hermitage Category 3-5 Short Story Abby Huitt, Hermitage Elementary for "All About Killer Whales"; and 6-8Poem Category: Hayley McKinley for "Invisible". Each winning student received a certificate plus $25.00.
Also pictured is Diane Parnell, winner for the member poetry contest for "Homeless" and her short story, "Alessa Plants a Garden".
