New Column Debutes on Saline

John, Gingy, and their grandson
Throughout the salineriverchronicle.com region there are many Unsung Heroes.  Maybe it is the lady in your church who never fails to check on the sick or shut in people, the man who keeps the litter picked up from your block, or the teenager who just did an unexpected good deed.  Many unsung heroes are overlooked and go without thanks or recognition.  salineriverchronicle.com is dedicating a new feature column to those who spread goodness throughout our region.  Each month, we will feature an unsung hero.  We invite our readers to send us nominations and include information as to why they are indeed heroes.  (Send nominations to salineriverchronicle@gmail.com)

I am choosing to kick this new adventure off with my family's own unsung heroes, a couple, John and Gingy Cuthbertson.  Last summer when my mom, Beverly Reep broke her hip and had a heart attack, followed by a number of procedures at The Heart Hospital, Mr. John and Mrs. Gingy mowed my parent's yard every week.  (Just to be truthful, our grass had never been more manicured!) . Mrs. Gingy sprang into action coordinating people to bring food and directing them to be cautious of Mom's diabetes.  When Mom came home from the hospital, we worried, "How will we get her up the steps into the house.  Never fear, Mr. John had the ramp set up when we got home with her.

I have always been blessed to live next door to the Cuthbertsons.  They are excellent examples of Christians.  I have witnessed their giving of time to their church ministry, to visiting the sick, volunteering at the Y, and so much more.  They are excellent parents and grandparents.

If I could sing, your story would be a masterpiece!
