Former Warren Resident/Educator Meets Warren Aquaintance

Gregg Reep and Wanda O'Quinn
While walking about looking at silent auction items on the campus of Henderson State University Saturday evening, August 11th, a visitor from Warren ran into a former Warren resident and retired public school educator, Wanda O'Quinn.  Many Warren people will remember Wanda as the wife of the late Coach Micky O'Quinn, a legion of Warren coaching in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
O'Quinn was responsible for the intense rivalry in the late fifties and early sixities that ran into the 1970s between the Warren Lumberjacks and the Fordyce Redbugs.  His opponent on the Fordyce sideline was the legendary Red Parker.

Coach O;Quinn left Warren and went to the University of Arkansas where he worked as a graduate assistant for the Razorbacks before settling in Arkadelphia as a professor at Henderson State University and served for a time as Athletic Director. Many former Lumberjacks remember him as Head Coach.  Many former Warren residents remember him as a swimming instructor at the YMCA.
Coach O'Quinn was considered ahead of his time in off season weight lifting and conditioning.

Mrs. O'Quinn speaks of Warren fondly and said she tries to get back for the Pink Tomato Festival.
She indicated she planned to be back in 2019.
