Tommy Larance Receives Award He Does Not Want

In a case of coffee shop humor, Tommy Larance a frequent participant in the morning coffee group at Molly's Diner, was shown a new certificate hanging on the wall that designated him as an honored member of the Boston Red Sox Nation.  Sounds like a cool thing for a rabid baseball fan like Mr. Larance, but there is a problem.  He is a long time radical New York Yankee fan.  As a matter of facft he really dislikes the Red Sox.

The picture was taken of Mr. Larance on the day he figured out that the certificate, nicely framed, was hanging up very near to where he sits each morning.  Luckily for Mr. Larance, he was wearing his Yankees shirt, so he got his picture made while demonstrating his loyalty to New York.  A good time was had by all involved in the conspiracy.

The certificate was provided by Robert Dew, a native of Warren and former Lumberjack great who went on to play defensive back for the Arkansas Razorbacks and ultimately settled in Boston to operate an international consulting company.  Mr. Dew visits Warren regularly and keeps up with Warren happenings.  His sister is Gingy Cuthbertson, who resides on N. Walnut Street with her husband John Cuthbertson, another Lumberjack great in football, basketball and track.

Thomas Rex Larance is also a native of Warren who taught and coached prior to entering a career in the insurance industry.  He is considered one of the all time great running backs in Lumberjack history and went on to star at Arkansas A & M College, now UAM, in the 1960s.  He remains an avid supporter of the Lumberjacks.
