Firewise Community Volunteers Gather for Wildfire Preparedness

On Saturday, May 6, Firewise Community Volunteers gathered at Moro Bay State Park to make the park a bit safer from the dangers of wildfires on National Wildfire Preparedness Day. This event was hosted by the newly accredited Firewise Community Jersey and it's Jersey Rural Fire Department.
Firewise, the program, educates home and property owners who live in areas designated as the Urban Interface; the intersection of properties and homes with wildland. Firewise stresses proactive, rather than reactive, methods of wildfire preparedness.  The removal of natural fuels, ie: pine straw, dry leaves, etc. is one way to mitigate and protect against wildfires. For more information about Firewise and its protective principles go to www.Firewise.org.
