UAM To Host 11th Annual Boll Weevil Stampede March 30- April 1

           MONTICELLO, Ark. — More than 250 rodeo cowboys and cowgirls from 14 colleges and universities will compete at the 11th annual Boll Weevil Stampede hosted by the University of Arkansas at Monticello March 30 through April 1
            Competition begins each evening at 7 p.m. at the Drew County Fairgrounds. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for UAM students with I.D. and children ages 6-12, and free for children 5 and under.
            Collegiate rodeo teams expected to participate include UAM, Cossatot Community College of the University of Arkansas, East Mississippi Community College, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Missouri Valley, Murray State, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Pearl River Community College, Southern Arkansas, Tennessee-Martin, Three Rivers College, Arkansas State-Beebe, and West Alabama.
            Competition will be held in bull riding, saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, steer wrestling, calf roping, team roping, barrel racing, goat tying, and breakaway roping. Participants will be competing for prize money as well as championship points to qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming in June.
            The Boll Weevil Stampede is being sponsored by Chris Bryant State Farm Insurance, C&L Electric, Commercial Bank and Trust, Searcy and Associates, LLC, and Monticello Ambulance Service.
